I spent the beginning of November in Kenting in Taiwan just as in the past two years. I love this place, it almost feels like going home. I really like the organisers of the Ironman 70.3 event, who have always carried out a very good job. In this race you can feel that the race is for the athletes and not the athletes for the race.
At that time no one knew that in a few hours it will be extremely hot.
It was one of my worst starts since I do triathlon. The water was shallow for many meters and all pro males were running into the sea together. I started swimming too early and went to the water some meters away from the others. I got behind, but fortunately the pro females came only one minute after us, so I could finish swimming with them.
I started pedalling with the Japanese Yu, who kept a constant space. Unfortunately I had to stop at an aid station so distance grew between Yu and me. From that point on I was cycling alone, concentrating on holding my handbars straight. A screw broke in the hand-bar before the competition, making it move some centimetres up and down all the time.
I saw that I had the chance to get some positions higher in the running. The first group was too far ahead, but I overtook everyone that I could and got to the 8th place, where I finished the race.

Mint az elmúlt két évben idén is november elejét Tajvanon Kentingen töltöttem. Szeretem ezt a helyet, már teljesen olyan mintha haza mennék. Nagyon kedvelem a szervezőket, akik mindig rendkívül jó munkát végeznek. Ezen a versenyen lehet érezni, hogy a verseny van az atlétákért és nem az atléták a versenyért!
Az idei évben mind a három versenyszám helyszínén alakítottak a szervezők, de a kerékpár és a futás egy része maradt a régi pályán.
A verseny hajnalán eső és viharos szél fogadott. Így egy rövid szakaszt töröltek a kerékpár pályából a rendezők, ekkor még senki nem sejtette, hogy pár óra múlva már kánikula lesz.
Az úszás rajtját életembe nem kaptam el ilyen rosszul. A víz sokáig sekély volt, így a legtöbb atléta futott befelé a hullámok között. Én viszont túl hamar fejest ugrottam és a többiektől pár méter távolságra belekezdtem az úszásba. A profi férfi boly összedolgozva haladt előre, de szerencsémre a rögtön utánunk induló profi csajokkal tudtam úszni.
A kerékpárra pattanva a Japán Yuval kezdtem meg a tekerést. Yu jó iramban tekert, jó lett volna vele haladni, de egy kisebb holtpontkor megálltam egy frissítőnél és sajnos leszakadtam róla. Innentől kezdve egyedül tekertem. Csak arra figyeltem, hogy a folyamatosan mozgó kormányomat tartsam egyenesen, mert a verseny előtt beletört a csavar és több centiket mozgott tekerés közben. Sajnos a kerékpár nem úgy sikerült, ahogy azt szerettem volna.
A futás megkezdésekor láttam, hogy mindenképp sikerülhet még pár pozíciót fentebb kerülni. Sajnos az első csoporttól nagy volt a lemaradás. Viszonylag hamar feljöttem a 8.-ik helyig, ami már a célig nem változott.
